Responsibilities of Staff and Volunteers

As a member of Evo Sports, all staff and volunteers are expected to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and safeguarding in alignment with our club values, safeguarding policies, and ESPPP guidelines.

Safeguarding and Welfare

  • Implement and strictly adhere to Evo Sports’ Safeguarding Policy and Procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.
  • Report any safeguarding concerns, allegations of abuse, or poor practice immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
  • Create an environment where young people and parents feel heard, valued, and safe to raise concerns.
  • Maintain professional boundaries at all times and avoid any form of abuse or inappropriate behavior.
  • Recognise that engaging in any sexual behavior with a young learner is illegal and will result in immediate disciplinary action and legal consequences.

Professional Conduct and Coaching Standards

  • Stay up to date with coaching qualifications, first aid, and safeguarding training, ensuring compliance with Evo Sports’ CPD (Continuing Professional Development) requirements.
  • Ensure the physical and emotional safety of all young learners by using safe, age-appropriate coaching methods and adequate supervision.
  • Verify appropriate staff-to-player ratios before each session, in accordance with ESPPP and Evo Sports guidelines.
  • Ensure all equipment and facilities are safe, fit for purpose, and accessible for all participants.

Respect and Inclusion

  • Foster an inclusive, welcoming, and discrimination-free environment where all children feel respected and valued.
  • Champion diversity and promote equal opportunities for all participants, regardless of ability, background, gender, or ethnicity.
  • Communicate with honesty and transparency, respecting the trust placed in you by young people and their families.
  • Develop positive relationships with parents and guardians, providing regular updates on their child’s development and experience at the club.

Player Development and Well-being

  • Prioritise player well-being and mental health, ensuring that coaching methods build confidence rather than humiliate or discourage.
  • Intervene appropriately in cases of injury, administering first aid, calling for assistance, and reporting all incidents to the Director of Operations.
  • Use constructive feedback to develop players, reinforcing positive behavior and sportsmanship.
  • Challenge and address any form of bullying, aggression, or negative behavior within the club.

Online Safety and Conduct

  • Adhere to Evo Sports’ Online Safety and Acceptable Use Policy, ensuring appropriate and professional interactions both in-person and online.
  • Lead by example in sportsmanship, respect, and professionalism, setting high standards for young learners to follow.

Club Environment and Culture

  • Contribute to making Evo Sports a friendly, enjoyable, and professional sporting environment.
  • Engage positively in the club’s vision, mission, and values, fostering a sense of community and team spirit.
  • Enjoy your role and know that you are supported as part of our Evo Sports family.

Rights of Staff and Volunteers

At Evo Sports, all staff and volunteers have the right to:

  • Be fully informed of our safeguarding policies and reporting procedures.
  • Access ongoing professional development and training relevant to their role.
  • Be heard, respected, and involved in club decision-making.
  • Work in a supportive and fair environment, free from discrimination based on race, gender, ability, or background.
  • Receive protection from physical, emotional, or psychological harm and access conflict resolution support.
  • Be valued as part of the Evo Sports team and feel a sense of belonging within the club.

Commitment

Evo Sports expects all staff and volunteers to uphold this Code of Conduct at all times.

Any breach of these principles will be taken seriously and addressed in accordance with Evo Sports’ disciplinary procedures.

  • Minor breaches will result in supportive feedback and guidance.
  • Serious or repeated breaches may lead to formal disciplinary action, HR involvement, and if necessary, termination of role or employment.
